Ghanaian striker Abdul-Aziz Yakubu has reacted after scoring a brace for Rio Ave in their 2-1 win over Farense in the Portuguese League Cup.
The 24-year-old put up an impressive display as he helped his side progress to the next stage of the competition on Tuesday at the Estádio dos Arcos.
“Back on the pitch — back on the scoresheet. Good win,” he wrote on Twitter.
Yakubu gave Rio Ave the lead in the 30th minute of the game with a sublime finish but Farense defender Zach Muscat bagged the equaliser in the 62nd minute.
The Ghanaian converted a spot-kick in the 73rd minute to restore the lead for the home side. Rio Ave held on to seal a hard fought victory.
Yakubu lasted the entire duration of the game, while his compatriot Emmanuel Okyere Boateng was an unused substitute for Rio Ave.
He has now scored eight goals and provided three assist in 14 games for Rio Ave across all competitions this season.
He joined Rio Ave in 2021 and has since been a key cog of the team.
