The Pittsburgh Steelers are not having the season that many fans hoped for.
But, it was to be expected after the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger.
The franchise has been turned over to rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett, who has shown flashes in his first season.
But, the Steelers’ roster is full of holes, and they need to make some changes this offseason.
Here are two changes the Steelers should be looking to make before the 2023 season.
1. Select An Offensive Lineman In The First Round
The Steelers have a record of 5-8, and currently have the 13th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
But, they also have two second-round picks after acquiring one from the Chicago Bears for Chase Claypool.
Pittsburgh must address their offensive line woes in the first round.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Steelers have the 18th-best offensive line in football.
But, for the most part, they are just treading water on the line without a real star player.
Luckily for them, two very good offensive tackles are locks to go in the first round.

That is Paris Johnson from Ohio State and Peter Skoronski of Northwestern.
Both of those players should be atop the Steelers’ draft board come draft time.
2. Find A New Offensive Coordinator
The Steelers’ offense is stale, and it has been for a while.
Not only do they not score points, but their offense does not do anything well.
Pittsburgh is averaging 17.5 points per game, which ranks 27th in the NFL.
Someone will have to answer for that lack of offense.
Look no further than offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

There is no creativity in Canada’s offense, and it is a disservice to the Steelers’ defense.
If the Steelers had just a league-average offense, they would probably be in the playoff picture.
You could make the argument that the quarterback play in Pittsburgh is bad, but plenty of teams have that issue.
If you look around the league there are a few teams winning games and scoring points with backup quarterbacks.
Even the San Francisco 49ers have a substantially better offense with third-string quarterback Brock Purdy.
The offensive scheme is a big factor in scoring points, and the Steelers simply do not have a good one.
