I’m a hotel worker and here’s the sentence you need to say to bag a free upgrade

GETTING a free upgrade to a better room when you arrive at your hotel is something most guests only dream of.

But that dream could become a reality because a hotel worker has revealed the one sentence you need to say to bag a free upgrade – but you might need to do some homework.

Edward Conway has taken to question and answer site Quora to share his advice for hotel guests looking to get bumped up to a nicer room.

He advised that guests ask the front desk worker for their name and say that they will be giving feedback and they’d like to include them.

That way they are more likely to get upgraded so that the hotel and the staff member can get good reviews.

So the one sentence you need to say is: “I’ll be leaving a review, what’s your name?”

Edward emphasised how important good feedback is for a hotel – so you should probably only use this technique if you will actually leave a review.

He said: “Be polite and notice things that can be included in a feedback survey.

“A guest who uses my name and who gives an email address so that they can give feedback on their stay is more likely to comment on the stay.

“Having consistent positive feedback from guests is a core goal in hospitality. Management and staff are judged on this as a key job performance indicator.”

Edward also explained that by doing the reverse and telling hotel staff you won’t be leaving a review, they won’t care so much about your experience, so you are less likely to be upgraded.

He added: “Letting the front desk know you will not be giving feedback is akin to saying that you don’t care about your stay.”

A hotel owner has revealed how guests can get a free upgrade on their room – ‘don’t be greedy’.
