Chelsea and Tottenham are no longer chasing the signing of Everton winger Anthony Gordon, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year old has shown himself to be an exciting prospect with his performances in the Premier League, and it led to interest from Chelsea and Spurs during the summer.
Now, however, Gordon could get the chance to sign a new contract with Everton, while Chelsea and Tottenham have turned their attention elsewhere.
Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, Romano suggested that Chelsea would no longer try to negotiate a deal for Gordon due to their signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are also thought to be prioritising other positions at the moment, despite monitoring the England Under-21 international for sometime.
“Everton have offered Anthony Gordon a new deal, let’s see how talks will go in the next months,” Romano said. “Chelsea have decided to invest in Mykhaylo Mudryk so they’re not in talks to sign Gordon now.
“Tottenham monitored him in the last few months but they now feel they need different players as a priority.”
Everton are struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table this season, so Gordon could surely consider moving to a bigger club if the opportunity arises Again.
Still, it seems that the opportunity to join either Chelsea or Spurs is gone for the moment.
