CHAN 2022: Legendary Mohammed Polo charges Black Galaxies to salvage the image of Ghana Premier League at tournament

1978 AFCON winner Mohammed Polo has charged the Black Galaxies to salvage the image of the Ghana Premier League at the 2023 Championship for African Nations (CHAN) tournament in Algeria.

A chunk of Ghanaian football fanatics has raised concerns about the decline of the domestic top-flight in recent times.

In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, the former Hearts of Oak star implored the Black Galaxies to use the CHAN tournament as a platform to make a strong case about the Ghana Premier League.

“It is an opportunity for the Black Galaxies to showcase our league to the continent. The best players have been selected for the tournament, so we want to see the quality of our league, these players should be representing us at the AFCON and World Cup in the future”

“It is the time for the Black Galaxies to show the standard of our football in Africa. They should make sure we have something to talk about with regards to the quality of our football”

“We are looking up to them at this tournament, well, it didn’t go on well in our first game but it doesn’t mean they are out. They still have the opportunity and I think they have to salvage the face of our football (Ghana Premier League)”

The home-based national team will lock horns with Sudan on Thursday night at the Stade Chahid Hamlauoi in Constantine.

Ghana started the competition on a losing none after defeat to newcomers Madagascar in their Group opener.

CAF award all three teams in Group C three points following Morocco’s failure to travel to Algeria for the competition.

This means Ghana’s needs a good result to progress to the second round of the African Nations Championship.
