A barber who offered King Charles a free haircut has said he admires His Majesty’s locks but thinks he could make him look younger with a better trim.

Felix Luca George, 48, said for an older gentleman the King has ‘fantastic’ hair but after he got him in the chair he could give him a trendy chop.

Felix has a shop less than 100m from where the King visited in Dunfermline yesterday and took the bold move to tell the monarch he could have a free haircut at his shop.

The owner of Hollywood Barbers queued for hours to be able to catch a glimpse of the 73-year-old monarch and when he was standing just a few metres from him, he panicked and asked him if he wanted a haircut.

As Felix shook the King’s hand, he said to him: ‘It would be my pleasure to give you a haircut for free, I have barber shop here.’

And the King said: ‘Next time.’

King Charles was visiting Dunfermline as the former town officially became Scotland’s eighth city.

Felix told Metro.co.uk: ‘It was an absolute pleasure to shake his hand, but I would love to cut his hair too.

‘It is a very important job, he has a great head of hair, and he looks fantastic but I could make him look even better.

‘I don’t think a short back and sides would suit him, but he could have a cool new haircut.’

He added: ‘He is the King, I couldn’t believe it when I got to see him.

‘It is a once in a lifetime, I would give him the special treatment.

‘I might have to turn everything in the shop into red, white and blue if he came, but I am sure he would like it.

‘I will be waiting for him to come to the shop now, hopefully he now knows where it is.’

He said: ‘I would give them all [Royal family] a free haircut, even Meghan and Harry. I like them all but the King is the most important.’

Mr George, from Romania, said King Charles is his favourite member of the Royals, due to his connections to his home country.

Charles visited Transylvania in 1998 for the first time and has said he immediately fell in love with the country.

The British king can trace his lineage back to Vlad Tepes, one of Romania’s national heroes who was also known as ‘Vlad the Impaler’ for his ruthless treatment of enemies.

The King also owns a guesthouse where you can stay for as little as £105 a night close to the village of Viscri.

When asked if he would become the King’s full time barber, Felix told Metro.co.uk: ‘I would love the job, is there any greater honour.

‘I would do it for free, but I would miss all of my customers too. I love them and I have been here for a few years now and everyone around here is getting to know me.’

The Queen’s longest-serving hairdresser Ian Carmichael was honoured by Her Majesty back in 2017 when he was given an award in the New Year’s Honours List.

Mr Carmichael had been the Queen’s hairdresser for 19 years, visiting the monarch at her homes around the UK twice a week.

Yesterday was first time King Charles and the Queen Consort had carried out a public engagement since the Queen’s funeral on 19 September.

Before spending time with the crowds, the royals had attended an official council meeting where the King formally marked the conferral of city status on Dunfermline and signed a guest book.

During the ceremony, the King said he was ‘delighted’ when it was announced the town would become a city.

He said he hoped people would feel a ‘real sense of pride in this new chapter’.
