Rishi Sunak is ‘unlikely’ to watch fellow Tory MP Matt Hancock on ‘I’m a Celeb’, his spokesman has confirmed.

The former health secretary has had the Conservative whip suspended following his decision to appear on the show.

Now the prime minister’s spokesman has said MPs should be ‘working hard for their consistuents’, in an apparent jab at Hancock.

It is not the first time an interaction between the pair has raised eyebrows, after Sunak snubbed his old cabinet colleague after winning the Tory leadership, in footage that was widely shared.

Asked about the West Suffolk’s MP plan to go on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, Sunak’s official spokesman said: ‘The PM believes that at a challenging time for the country MPs should be working hard for their constituents, whether that is in the House or in their constituency.’

The spokesman added that it was ‘unlikely’ that the PM would be watching the programme.

Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of West Suffolk Conservative Association, Andy Drummond, said he was looking forward to seeing Hancock ‘eating a kangaroo’s penis’.

‘Quote me. You can quote me that.’
