Ghana and St Gallen goalkeeper Ati Zigi shortlisted for Swiss Super League Best Player Award

Ghana shot-stopper Lawrence Ati Zigi has been shortlisted for the Swiss Super League Best Player Award folloiwng his impressive display for St Gallen.

The 26-year-old has been one of the consistent performers for his side as they lie 3rd on the league table with 24 points after 16 matches played so far.

Ati Zigi was adjudged Player of the Month for November prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

He has made 58 saves only a shot behind FC Luzern goalkeeper Marius Muller in terms of total saves made this season.

Ati Zigi will have to beat off competition from David Douline (Servette FC), Valon Fazlu (FC Aarau), Cedric Itten (FC Young Boys) and Koro Kone (Yverdon FC) for the award.

Ati Zigi represented Ghana at the World Cup, featring in all Black Stars’games as they exited the competition at the group stage. Black Stars finished bottom of their group with only three points.

The Swiss League resumes on January 23, 2023.
