Ghana's Abu Francis grabs assist for Cercle Brugge against KV Mechelen

Abu Francis grabbed an assist in Cercle Brugge’s 1-1 draw with KV Mechelen in the Belgian top flight on Friday evening.

After just three minutes, Francis, who is on loan from the Danish team FC Nordsjaelland, connected with Togolese attacker Kevin Denkey to score his team’s first goal.

With 19 seconds left, KV Mechelen, the hosts, replied with Nikola Storm. On the resumption of the Belgian First Division A league, Francis played the entire time and put on an excellent performance.

Since moving to Belgium, the Right to Dream Academy product has made 10 appearances and registered an assist.

Before his move to Nordsjaelland from Right to Dream in the summer of 2019, Francis had already played a reserve team game for the club in July 2017 and three games for the U19’s in the Torneo di Viareggio in March 2019.

With a year left of his contract with Nordsjælland, the club confirmed on 19 August 2022, that Abu Francis had been sold to Belgian First Division A side Cercle Brugge, with the player signing a deal until June 2025 with an option for an additional season. Francis got his debut for the Belgian side on 27 August 2022 against Zulte Waregem.
