While the current shelter, built in 1986, served the community well for several years, a booming Johnson City and Washington County mean the shelter has far outgrown its space. In the winter, most dogs have only the protection of roofs and doghouses. Far more important though, is the number of healthy dogs and cats that must be euthanized every day simply due to a lack of space. The sick and homeless animals of Johnson City and Washington County deserve better than what our current cramped, outdated shelter has to offer.
